Its a face of life that you are what you do. Your actions will always speak louder than your words. I’m slowly understanding this fact.
I’m in college, which basically means, I’m building myself from the bottom, up. That’s what these four years are for. Assembling yourself. You leave home at 17. You have no idea who you are outside of the cozy microclimate we call high school. You go to college, and you start discovering who you are on your own.

In the past two weeks I’ve discovered a decent number of important things about myself.

1- I like keeping a clean space. My room is immaculate, but not annoyingly so… its just right. My workspace is always beautifully set up; I can’t handle clutter.

2- The “good eating habits” my parents taught me have stuck. I still eat my veggies and go to the gym(thanks mom and dad).

3- Im quite a talented beer pong player. Who knew…?

I suppose you never really figure out who you are because you’re always changing. But, for now, I like who I am in the world.

Don’t worry, these feelings won’t last, I’m bound to make a mistake sometime soon.

It’s a common occurrence. My alarm goes off at 6:30 am and I begin my silent argument.

” To class? Or not to class?”

That is the question.

The answer is, “to class”. I did a bit of math the other day and discovered that it costs around 180$ for me to attend every class that I take. 180$ a lecture.

Chilling in the incubator.

When babies are born they get pulled from their mothers womb and plopped into a little warm box called an incubator. If you’ve ever seen Grey’s Anatomy, you know that often times, siblings get put into the same incubator to keep eachother company.

I miss my incubator, and my incubator companion(and of course, the unhealthy amounts of sour candy and Grey’s that accompanied the warm fluffyness).

There’s a lot to miss about an incubator. Mc Dreamy, Mc Steamy, and my Mc Bestie.

It’t times like these that I miss home. Its late 1:34 to be precise, and I’m all by my oncie in my little old dorm room.

There are a lot of things to miss about home. When I say home, I mean less of a place, and more of a feeling. Home is a state of mind. I miss the comfort. The ease. The predictability. I miss my high school. There’s something to be said for the feeling of being a ‘big fish’ in a ‘small pond’. Its one of those things you’re told not to enjoy… but when push comes to shove… it feels pretty darn nice.

It’s not to say I don’t like it here; I love it. I just miss my family. I miss hearing my brother complain about the lack of food in the kitchen. I miss hearing my mom tell my brother to stop playing video games. I miss my dad’s loud chewing. I miss the smell of my room and of the California sundowner breeze.

But this is my life now. I’m several thousand miles from home.

It’s weird… moving out. I’ll never be a kid again. I mean, I am a kid, but I’ll never be a KID again. No quantity of juice boxes or cookies will move me back in time. No… that part of my life is over. It’s hard not to feel a pang of sadness when you realize things like that, but at the same time, there’s so much to look forward to.

Cheesy, I know. But I’ve always been a fan of cheese… I hold the belief that it is one of the finer dairy products.
